About Us

Founded in 1978, Surgical Rounds is a monthly, peer-reviewed surgical journal that reaches more than 43,000 surgeons and surgical specialists throughout the United States, including surgical interns and residents, all surgical faculty in medical schools, plus full-time hospital and private practice surgeons.

Surgical Rounds is dedicated to disseminating timely clinical information that surgeons can readily apply at the bedside. Specific departments include Case Reports, which generally cover rare presentations or unique diseases and conditions; a Minimally Invasive Surgery Series, which highlights a particular laparoscopic technique; a Pain Management Series, which discusses surgical pain assessment and treatment of specific types of acute pain, such as neuropathic pain, and pain in specific populations, such as the elderly; an X-Ray Vision Series, which reviews imaging modalities; and a Surgeon’s Laboratory Series, which demonstrates a particular procedure step-by-step using intraoperative color photographs along with corresponding anatomical drawings. In addition to providing a diverse range of articles, each issue also includes an editorial that covers a thought-provoking topic in surgery, a colorful anatomical chart with corresponding radiology images, and a Bulletin Board section that provides surgeons with useful financial information.
